“A moment of troubles for a life without troubles”
At least they acknowledge the fact that tearing up the main street in Arequipa causes a bit of a hassle for traffic.
This is the booth where I get keys made for about 60 cents a piece. If you need something in Peru, there’s always a way to get it. Every week I ask my Peruvian roommate a more ridiculous question about obtaining illegal merchandise. It started with brass knuckles and yesterday it was an automatic machine gun. With every response he says, “Why the hell do you want a machine gun? You’re crazy. But seriously, if you need one I know a place…”

Something in Arequipa is always under construction. This month, they’re going after the sewer system block by block. My room mate and I came to the conclusion that Peruvians have enough cash to start projects, but will stop half way because it will be another 4 months until they have enough to finish it. Thus leaving the roads half torn up or buildings with half a paint job. Am I surprised? After almost 6 months here: Nope.
Something I continually laugh at here in Peru are the ATM’s. Whenever I make a withdrawal it asks if I would like to take out “Cash money soles”. You know what ATM, I would love some cash money.

Topper de Estudiantes de La Plata (no idea), Real Madrid, and Ecuador jerseys for a whopping total of S/. 45 ($17) Not a bad day at the market.
I’ll be teaching during the Real vs. Barca game on Saturday but thinking of streaming it online and having my students translate the commentary. Smart. One of my students does MMA and since I box, we’re going to spar Saturday night. I’ll keep you posted on the results.
Just a bit of construction that I pass by on my way to the gym. Can’t say that I’ve seen much progress in the past 2 months but I’m sure they’ll get there eventually. This week has flown by and I’m sure it’s because I got paid on Tuesday and finally financially recovered from my Chile trip. The exchange rate killed me: Meaning I couldn’t get a grasp on how much an 800 peso beer really was.
